Lately, there has been a massive debate about why directories are important to webmasters and helping with serps for any website. There are a few people that do not believe that directories are worth anything to anyone, but they have been met with a lot of people giving proof that directories have helped their website gain in the web serps. I just wanted to let everyone know that the people that do not like directories are usually directory owners that have not succeeded in the tough directory industry. They have tried to create and run a directory, but failed because they usually do not understand all the work that goes into it. There are many others that successfully run directories and submit to them because they have been proven to get websites to the top of the serps. I have used only directories as a test on another website and within 6 months of submitting to a combination of free and paid directories, the site got on the top ten for a highly searched and competitive keyword. I know that web directories work to in order to gain the most for websites and you have to take what people say about them with a grain of salt. The quality web directories are trusted by search engines and will stay on top as one of the easiest and most efficient ways to gain position in the serps!

The title of your webpages are very important in regards to seo and traffic you may eventually receive from search engines. You always want to try to include some keywords from your page content in your titles. This will give your readers or people that are searching a reason to go to your site and find out what you have to say. Not only do you want to include keywords, but you want your title to shine! You only have one chance to get someone from the search engine results and your title is what sells. Make sure that your title entices people to come to your site, but make sure that it is still relevant to your page content. Just keep your eyes on your title and make sure you keep it relevant.

People usually associate Press Releases with large companies that usually provide products and services offline. This might have been the case a couple of years ago, but not now! Sending a press release about your new website or service offering can be a very good traffic boost if you topic is of interest to readers. Press Releases are easy to formulate and even easier to distribute. There are many good resources out there that have a free distribution option. Most of them will get your press release on some of the news websites, which is always good. One site is PRweb.com. This site can provide you many options to get your press release out there, but try not paying for the service because you will be wasting your money. Search the internet for some free PR distributors and always make sure to contact your local newspaper because they might be interested as well! This is just a little lesson that shows that you can really do a lot of the same advertising as the offline companies and be successful at it!

There are so many webmasters trying to make a living only with their website and monetizing it with Adsense or YPN, but have they ever thought about doing an affiliate program instead or as well? There are many companies that offer affiliate programs, which make it easier for many to create websites and sell other companies products. If you do it correctly, then an affiliate program can payout very well and provide you some quality extra cash or even a living. You can try commission junction or amazon, but there are many that are offered just from the website alone, like dicks sporting goods. If you have a niche that you would like to take on, try getting into an affiliate program and test your skills with someone else’s products. If you can be successful with affiliate programs, then you can probably do well with a regular website.

As an active member over at DigitalPoint Forums, I have come across many people that try to scam others in order to make a quick buck. Well, after some time of many complaining and getting scammed, we have finally done something about it. One member created a blog that puts scammers in their place. As a webmaster, it is important that you get what you pay for or even exchange for. It can get hard to trust people that do not perform their duties like they say they will. The owner of Ask Directory created the QBC or Quick Buck Crew in order to show these scammers that we webmasters will not take it anymore. So, before you start working with people and paying for directory submissions, make sure they are not on the QBC list and you will save yourself some time and money!

There are many people asking if they have to manually submit their listings to directories because it can be very tedious. There are many “auto-submitters” out there that can help you out with this task, but you know what I say to that…..Stay AWAY!! These auto submitters will get you no where. While, you might have your submissions done quickly, but they will not be accepted in most directories and it is frowned upon by the big G, Google that is! I know that it can be hard to submit your site to every directory by hand, but sometimes things have to be done in order to get the results you want. The good thing is that there is a solution to your problem. Its called RoboForm. This is a free software that will fill in the directory submission form at every site, so all you have to do is hit the submit button and move on the next one. If you have one site, then you can get the free version to help you out, but if you have more than one site, then you should get the pro version, which is only a little under $30. So, if you want your submissions to count, then go with the manual submission and do it with RoboForm!!

Everyone is always looking for that great way to get a large amount of traffic for little or no money. Well it just doesnt really happen in the online world unless you have a website that people want to see, again and again. If you haven’t heard of it yet, then you need to check out StumbleUpon, the social bookmarking site that allows its users to stumble upon great websites and share them with others. Its free to join and stumble as well. If you have a website that is useful and that can catch the visitors attention then you can get your site stumbled almost every day. This is one of the greatest ways to constantly bring visitors to your site. If you want a quick boost in traffic, then you can have a few people stumble your site and bring the traffic back again. Not all the traffic will be targeted, but there are always some that take interest in your site and might come back. Not bad for a free service, huh?

You know that it can be hard to get visitors to your website if you do not work hard on your site. It is a rule of thumb that you need to work on your general search engine optimization and marketing to get the traffic to your website naturally. Well, it can take a good amount of time to get traffic naturally from search engines. What is the best thing to do in order to get traffic to your site when you are working on the seo? I would suggest Pay Per Click programs like Google Adwords. This is probably one of the best programs for anyone because you can advertise your site on Google and its content network. Nowit can be a good amount of money in order to get quality traffic, but it might be worth it in the end. You will pay everytime someone clicks on your ad, but if you believe that your service is quality then it might lead to a good Return on Investment. So, if you want some quick traffic, check out Google Adwords!

The title got your attention didn’t it? I get questions from a lot of people that are new to the webmaster world in regards to the effectiveness of Alexa. Well there are many people who usually agree with me when we say that Alexa is not an effective tool for measuring anything. The only thing that Alexa will tell you is that if you are in the top 10,000 then your site is doing well. Any number above that shows nothing about your website. Alexa only can give you a number if someone with the Alexa toolbar installed actually visits your site. The big thing with this is that usually only webmasters have it installed, not regular users. You can have your traffic increase, but your alexa rank will decrease and you might not know how to fix it. Well, leave it alone because your goal is to increase your traffic, not your Alexa rank. So if you go online and hear things about the Alexa rank, just turn away because it is an ineffective ranking mechanism!
